Texas State law (SB 1107) mandates that all entering students under the age of 30 provide a certificate signed by a health care provider or an official immunization record verifying that a student has been vaccinated against bacterial meningitis, or has received a booster during the five years preceding admission to the University.
An entering student includes:
A new student, including transfer students
A student previously enrolled in any institution of higher education following a break of at least one fall or spring semester
The Student will not be able to register for class until this requirement has been completed. The vaccine must be administered within the past five years and at least 10 days before the first day of classes.
UIW has contracted with Magnus Health to manage your student health records. You need to submit proof of your Meningitis vaccine to your Magnus Health account for UIW. You will receive an email that contains a username and password for your account. The email will contain brief instructions that explain how you should access the account. If you do not receive this email or if you have further questions, please contact the Magnus Health Help Desk at 877-461-6831. We suggest checking your spam mail as the initial email will come from Magnus rather than UIW.
The vaccine must be received prior to the 10th day before the first day of the semester. The vaccine is available through UIW Student Health Services for $130.00.
